BidCrafter ("we", "us", "our") provides an AI-powered assistant that helps Upwork freelancers find, evaluate, and respond to job postings. This policy explains what information we collect through our website (bidcrafter.co) and our Chrome browser extension, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over your data.
BidCrafter is an independent product. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Upwork Inc.
When you sign up, we collect your email address and a password (stored only as a hashed value). If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor (Stripe) collects and stores your billing information — we never see or store your credit card number.
When you install the Chrome extension and connect your account, the extension reads session cookies from upwork.com in your browser so that API requests made on your behalf are authenticated against your Upwork account. These cookies are transmitted to our servers only to make authenticated requests and are not shared with any third party.
With your permission, we read and store parts of your Upwork profile, including your name, hourly rate, portfolio items, and writing samples. We use this data to personalize the proposals our AI generates for you.
We collect data about Upwork job postings you view or save — title, description, client history, budget, and skill requirements — so we can score each posting for fit and generate a tailored proposal.
We store the proposals we generate for you, any edits you make, and the final version submitted to Upwork. This lets you review past submissions and helps the AI learn your preferences.
We collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) to keep the service running, diagnose errors, and prevent abuse. We do not use third-party analytics trackers or advertising cookies.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not train AI models on your data that are shared with other users.
We rely on a small number of trusted processors to operate BidCrafter:
We do not share your information with any other third parties except where required by law (e.g., a valid court order).
We keep your account data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except for records we are legally required to retain (e.g., billing records). Upwork session cookies are stored only while needed to complete a request and are rotated whenever you re-authenticate.
Regardless of where you live, you have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@bidcrafter.co. We will respond within 30 days.
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, scoped API tokens for extension access, and standard operational controls to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure — if you suspect a breach, contact us immediately.
BidCrafter is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Our servers may be located in jurisdictions different from yours. By using BidCrafter, you consent to the transfer of your information to those jurisdictions, which may have different data protection laws than your own.
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our service or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we'll email you and update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of BidCrafter after a change means you accept the updated policy.
